Samples from a Tag Swap

A while back I participated in a Christmas Tag Swap. I made 50 tags (Yes, I can't believe it myself!) in five different designs and sent them off. It was more time consuming than I had anticipated, but a few weeks later when 50 new and inspiring tags arrived in my mailbox I was glad I'd done it!. I want to share them with you so you can enjoy and be inspired as well. Here we go:

Now these cards are all different sizes even though they look somewhat the same in the photos. Just consider the size of the stamp or punch used and it gives you a better idea of the size.

Some of these I will use as samples for workshops, some I will use on my Christmas gifts, and some I will use on the front of cards. So many possibilities!!

Isn't the little envelope just the cutest thing!

Isn't this just gorgeous!

That's all for now! Thanks for visiting!

Serene Trifold

I really like this particular design in the Ski Slope Designer Series Paper, and after burgundy and gold, I like blue and white for Christmas cards. This one was a snap to make, just cutting and pasting, and I think it looks quite elegant (even though the photography isn't!) If I do it again I think I will add a sentiment to the centre piece and use a smaller snowflake.

Thanks for visiting!
Cheers

It's Snowing Where I live!

While the snow isn't staying (thank goodness), I still managed to 'build' some snowman cards.
This jolly snowman is from the 'Jolliest Time of the Year' stamp set. I like the sense of action he portrays, almost like he's waddling across the snow.
The cardstock is Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango, with the snowman embossed in black on Whisper White. I wanted to use the Frosty Day DSP so I coloured the first two snowmen using markers that would co-ordinate - Pumpkin Pie, Certainly Celery, Bashful Blue, and Close to Cocoa.
The third snowman is more traditional - chilly blue with Christmas red, or Bashful Blue and Real Red to be exact. The Bashful Blue DSP was taken from one of the Hostess packs, and the ribbon is the 1/2" striped grosgrain in Real Red. (PS - the ribbon isn't really that crooked in reality!)
Hope you like my Frosty Friends!

Elves of a Different Colour...

So I'm still playing with the 'Holiday Lineup' stamp set, this time with the Elves - aren't they a cute bunch?! Unfortunately the light was lousy when I took the photos so they aren't that clear.
The first uses Old Olive cardstock and Urban Garden DSP. The snowflakes were punched with the snowflake punch from the Frosty Days DSP to tie in with the colours I used on the elves. SU Marker colours are Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, and Chocolate Chip. The sentiment is from a retired SU set, but it doesn't have a name on it!
The second card, which I like much better, uses Old Olive, Real Red, and Chocolate Chip cardstock, and DSP from the I Wish Simply Scrapping kit. The buttons are from the Designer Buttons set. The sentiment is from the All Holidays set stamped on 11/2" Twill tape.
I think this stamp set would be a lot of fun to use for friends or co-workers if you gave each elf one of their names!! Just don't tell anybody it was my ideas!
Cheers

Halloween is over!

And now I can concentrate on Christmas! Canadian Thanksgiving was in October so I can give Christmas cards and decorations my full attention - Yay!

Except for Tuesday night when many, many Canadians will be glued to the TV waiting to see who becomes the next President of the USA. I have my favourite, but it will remain a secret. (Hint - he's male)
Now, back to regular programming... this post is about this Santa card using the Santa from the 'Jolliest Time of the Year' stamp set. The card layout is from a design challenge and I really like all the layers. The cardstock is Basic Black, Real Red, and Whisper White. The Designer Series Paper is from 'I Wish' Simply Scrapping package, but the snowflakes match the stamps in the 'Snow Swirled' set, so you could make your own. The ribbon is 1/2 Striped grosgrain in Real Red.
I embossed the image with VersaMark and Black embossing powder and coloured it in with markers - Real Red, Basic Black, and Summer Sun for the belt buckle. I used Blush Blossom for his face and a touch of Pretty in Pink for his cheeks.

Hope you have a nice weekend!
Carol

Today's Favourite Christmas stamp set

And I do mean 'today'. Stampin' Up! has so many neat Christmas stamp sets this year that I can choose a new 'favourite' every day (well, at least every week). These cards were made with the 'Holiday Lineup' set. The snowmen make me smile every time I look at them. There are elves and reindeer too and I'll make cards with them another time.
So, for the details. I really like the colours on the first card - shades of blue and green, not exactly Christmasy but kind of mellow. This layout is copied from another demo's design, I can't take the credit for it!
For cardstock I used Baja Breeze and Mellow Moss. The Designer Series Paper is from 'Urban Garden' that I cut on the diagonal. I embossed the snowmen with VersaMark and Black embossing powder, then coloured in the snowmen (okay, so I love colouring - perhaps there really is a second childhood!!) with markers in Mellow Moss, Sage Shadow, Certainly Celery, and Bashful Blue, then lightly watercoloured the 'snow' with a light gray.
The ribbon is 1/4 inch grosgrain in Whisper White and Certainly Celery.
I stamped the card background in Craft Whisper White, using snowflakes from the 'SnowBurst' stamp set, and used a mini glue dot to attach the white snowflake from SU's Felt Flurries.
The second card uses the same snowmen in different colours. The background cardstock is Bashful Blue and the DSP is Frosty Day, another un-typical colour combination for Christmas. The ribbon and brad are Bashful Blue and the snowflakes are from the Felt Flurries set. Although I've only used white snowflakes, they come in Baja Breeze and Riding Hood Red as well. The snowmen are coloured with markers in Pumpkin Pie, Bashful Blue, Old Olive, and Chocolate Chip.
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving comments, I appreciate them all!
