A Birthday Card for Doc

Today my husband asked me to make a birthday card for a golfing friend of his. Now I know Doc a little, enough to know that he's a practical joker... So I wanted to come up with something that would give him a chuckle.

I chose Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, and Whisper White as the colours and this is what resulted:

I can't imagine anyone calling Doc 'cupcake', so thought I would give it a try!!!

And then, because he is our age (the 'new' thirty), I decided this was appropriate:

I hope he enjoys it!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday card for Sandi

Today is Sandi's birthday. She is a member of our Atlantic Stampers Ink Team, and a wonderful, bubbly, energetic, thoughtful, beautiful, person.

While Maree was visiting me last week we put together this card for Sandi - a special person deserves a special card - and we got this gorgeous idea from Judy May of Just Judy Designs.

There are a lot of details in this card, including several embossing folders.

And a beautiful pop-up basket of flowers inside.

The pop-up was easy with just a couple of cuts made on the Stampin' Trimmer.

Lots of hand-cutting the pretty Stippled Blossoms flowers.

And other little details...

This card is much like Sandi herself, lovely on the outside, but even better on the inside!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDI!!!  Hugs from Carol and Maree

Thanks for stopping by!

Sneak Peek Holiday Catalogue

Hello there! I want to share with you all the 'feeding frenzy Stampin' Up! order delivery' excitement that took place this week with myself and two of my team. When the FedEx truck arrived, Glen (the driver, who just happens to be my across the street neighbour!) was met by three demos doing the happy dance...he looked somewhat... perplexed/nervous/amused!

We followed him happily into the house where he deposited the two boxes and backed out of the way (we were coming at him with scissors - they were actually to open the boxes!)

There were lots of oohs and ahs and squeals and mess. And then the three of us picked our favourite product (of the moment) and set to work. Here are our results.

Linda chose this beautiful new dove stamp set and embossed it in gold.

One of everyone's favourites is the new embossing folder!

The design on the dove is beautiful and perfect for rhinestones!

Maree chose this darling stamp set.

And used another terrific embossing folder.

My choice was this stamp set and Designer Series Paper.

Since I decided at the last minute to use brads on the bottom I had to cut their legs off and attach them with glue dots. There's always a solution!

Linda wanted to try out even more new product and so she made this card. Look closely, there are four new products being used!

And because she wanted her bling to match the other colours of her card, she heat embossed the embellishment with gold embossing powder!

I hope you enjoyed sharing in our enthusiasm! You will see the new Holdiay Mini Catalogue on August 1st!

Thanks for stopping by!

HAPPY CANADA DAY!!!

JULY 1ST

Happy Canada Day to Everyone in this Wonderful country!

I hope you are celebrating and having a good time. If you are new to Canada - WELCOME! If you have been here 'forever', take a moment to appreciate everything that Canada offers.

My family came to Canada from England in 1783. My ancestor's name was John Higgins and he was a farmer from Wiltshire. He and his descendents farmed some little part of Nova Scotia ever since.

I live in Nova Scotia which is the long skinny blue province on the right of the map below.

I have been fortunate to live in three provinces during my life - Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland. Plus I have travelled across the country, but haven't made it up north as yet. Did you know that London, England is closer to Halifax, Nova Scotia, than Vancouver, British Columbia (the island off the pink province on the left) is to Halifax, Nova Scotia?! Yes, we're big and beautiful!

Thanks for stopping by! Now Celebrate!!

My Favourite Stamp Set!

Let me qualify that - my favourite stamp set THIS WEEK (maybe longer...)

I have wanted this stamp set for a while but couldn't justify it, then it got close to the new catalogue and I wanted to make sure it wasn't retiring (demos have to worry about stuff like that!). But when I saw it in the new catty I knew its time had come!

Stippled Blossoms! YOU'RE MINE!

I love roses to begin with, so why I waited so long is a mystery to me. But these two-step roses are so beautiful (and easy with the stamp-a-majig)

The colours for the roses are Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals, the leaves are Wild Wasabi and Gumball Green.

I also used the NEW Candy Dots from the 2013-2014 Catalogue - those are my new favourite embellishment! They are great for one layer cards as they give a brad look without the legs showing on the inside.

This card was inspired by Sandi MacIver, but I had to change a few things...

The Primrose Petal background piece was stamped with a retired wheel in Raspberry Ripple. The embossing folders used are the NEW Beautifully Baroque (white) and Square Lattice (Wild Wasabi).

I'm sure you'll be seeing more of this stamp set on this blog in the future! Now back to my craft table!!!

Thanks for stopping by!

Successful Open House

Yesterday afternoon was the date of my 4th annual Open House and Retirement sale. Many of my wonderful customers came, received their new catalogue, rushed the retired stamp sets table, and browsed the other sale tables and displays. Everyone seemed to be having a good time!

Our Atlantic Stampers Ink team were there too - keeping me sane and doing most of the work! Louise looked after the stamps, and Sandi was in charge of food, while Maree and Linda supervised the Make and Takes. Brian, my husband and a retired banker, looked after the money pot. As you probably figured that didn't leave a lot for me to do except chat with the visitors and draw names for door prizes!

During the next few days I'll be showing you some of the samples we made. The first one is a set of note cards made using the new Ronald McDonald House stamp set "Tag It".

I used some new stuff on the first card below. I coloured the stamp set with markers before I stamped it to give the variety of colours. Then I chose three of the Daffodil Candy dots and stuck them on. The sentiment from Sassy Salutations seemed to compliment the spirit of the card too.

The second card uses the new stamp set Flower Shop and the new punch Pansy. Again the front sentiment is from Sassy Salutations.

I think the "I dig you" stamp is so cute! Again I coloured the stamp with markers before stamping, and punched the little yellow flowers are punched using the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack.

Finally the Christmas card (this set is good for all year round!) I coloured the stamp with markers again - this is such an easy way to really make a wow image. Once you have it all coloured, just huff on it a couple of times to refresh the ink, and stamp! The background is made with the new Modern Mosaic Embossing Folder.

Drop back soon to see more samples!

Happy Stamping!

Matching Gift Box and Card

Here's another project from Craft Project Central - I couldn't resist!

I've used paper from the new Modern Medley Designer Series Paper. It has different designs in Basic Black and Very Vanilla, and is oh-so-classy!

The drawer opens to hold jewellery, a pretty scarf, love notes...

The card is slightly different with a contrasting band across the front. The stamp set used is Apothecary Art, and the colours are Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz.

I'm madly working on getting ready for my Open House on Sunday so I'll have lots to share with you after that!

Happy Stamping!
Carol
