Wednesday WOW!

I have a class called Wednesday WOW that I hold once a month. This is a class where we make something a little special, that might take more time than a regular class. Last month we made the Triple Heart Easel Card. (You can see a $5 tutorial on the right hand column of this blog)

This month we made three cards using the same style of surprise inside. Here they are:

The Get Well card uses the currently popular "Chalkboard Technique".

And inside is the WOW... isn't that cute! I got the idea from Laura Robinson who gave a presentation at the Hamilton Regional event held last fall.

The second card also has a surprise inside... wait for it....

Ta-dah! A photo!

And the Birthday card holds a gift card - or it could be a gift certificate or cash!

I've contacted Laura and she has given me permission to provide a tutorial for these WOW cards, so look for it within the week!

I hope you liked them as much as I did.

Happy Stamping!

Valentine Suite

Hello Stampers!

It's a very snowy Monday here in Nova Scotia, schools are closed, and until we start mucking around the world as we see it is quite beautiful. This was taken at daybreak through the window into my backyard:

But you're here to see and talk about the Valentine Suite that we made at class yesterday - before the snow!

This is a set which includes a card, a box of candy, and a bookmark/tag:

The card was originally designed by Sandi MacIver but I made a few slight changes. The colours are Primrose Petals and Very Vanilla. The Designers Series Paper is More Amore and includes the die cut hearts. The lace, and 'Love' ticket are from the Artisan Embellishments Kit, and the flowers are the 5/8" Flower Trim cut apart and coloured with the Primrose Petals Marker. The brad in the center of the Rose Red bow is one of the Designer Builder Brads in the Spring Mini, with an Extra Large Pearl in the center. The Coredinations cardstock on the bottom of the card was embossed with the Honeycomb Embossing Folder and then sanded.

The box was made using the Petal Cone die (see instructions here) and decorated with the largest doily of the Delicate Doilies Die, a flower from the 5/8" Flower Trim and a scalloped circle punched from the 2 3/8" scallop circle punch, then embossed with the Honeycomb folder. The Happy Valentine's Day sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. The beautiful ribbon is the 1 1/4" Two Tone ribbon from the Spring Mini.

I really like this box, first because it's always good to find many different uses for a die, and secondly because it is a good sized box that can hold a variety of things. This time it is holding 15 individually wrapped chocolates - yum!

Finally we made this bookmark/tag. It's a bit unusual because it opens, and if you're using it as a bookmark you can jot notes about the book, or list the books you've read...

If you use it as a tag there is lots of space to write a note or even add a small photo.
The ribbons used here are the Crumb Cake and Rose Red Seam Binding ribbon. The hearts on the front are cut using the Hearts a Flutter Framelits, the sentiments are from Loving Thoughts and Itty Bitty Banners.
