Sympathy Card Swap

This month I 'swapped' Sympathy cards with some of my team. I can't show you mine yet as not everyone has received them, but I will show you two that I have received already.

The first one is Maree's (www.inkymoose.blogspot.com) and features Lovely As A Tree and the Hardwood Background stamp.

I love how she has masked the area for the sentiment and then used the piercing tool to highlight it!

Here's the inside:

The next card is Linda's and it uses the beautiful Springtime Hello from the Occasions catalog. And notice how the two lines of scoring can add such elegance.

Everyone who has entered my craft room since I received this card has remarked on the colours and how much they like the card. Although it doesn't show in my photos, the wings of the bees are touched with glitter.

And the inside:

Thanks Maree and Linda!
I hope you enjoyed these cards and are inspired to stamp yourself! I'll show you the rest of the card swaps when they arrive.

Happy Stamping!

Basic Black Mat for front of card 5 ¼” x 4; Sentiment mat 3”x 1 ¼”; Banner 3” x 1”
Whisper White Inside mat 5 ¼” x 8 ½”
Designer Series Paper Choose two coordinating patterns. These ones are taken from the Sweet Sorbet package. The dark DSP is “A”, the lighter DSP is “B”.
A – Cut four pieces 1 3/8” x 1; cut two pieces 2 5/8” x 3/8
B – Cut one piece 5” x 3 ¾” for the front of the card. Cut two pieces 5” x 2 ¼”; cut two pieces 2 5/8” 1 7/8” (further cutting directions will be given later.)
Embossing Folders:
Needlepoint Border; Stylish Stripes.
Stamp Sets:
Perfect Pennants; Perfectly Penned; Starburst Sayings; Chalk Talk.
Ink: Black Stazon
Miscellaneous: Six Black Candy Dots; Dimensionals; Two sided-tape, Snail, Framelits – Chalk Talk and Starburst.

DIRECTIONS:
1. Attach 5 x 3 ¾” DSP to 5 ¼ x 4”Basic Black mat for front of card.
      2. Stamp ‘Celebrate Today’ on sentiment piece of So Saffron using Black Stazon. Glue to Basic Black sentiment mat. Set aside.
3.Emboss So Saffron and Basic Black Banners. Glue to DSP front approximately 1 ½” from top, as shown in photo.
4.Attach sentiment with dimensionals over the top of the banners.
5.Add black candy dots on sentiment cardstock and at the bottom of the card.
6. Attach card front to the cardstock base. The front of your card is complete.

7. Taking the 5 ¼ x 8 ½” piece of Whisper White and using the Stampin’ Trimmer (guillotine cutters will not work) cut a line 1 ¼” from the edge of each long side from 1 ½” to 6 ¾” as shown in diagram below:

8.  Once you’ve made the cuts, carefully score the Whisper White as shown in the diagram below:

9.   Fold on all score lines in the directions shown in the card:

         10. Cut the DSP pieces and attach to the Whisper White, centering each piece.  Special instructions for the side pieces that are cut out:
   11. Using the two 5 x 2 ¼” pieces of DSP and the Stampin’ Trimmer, cut as shown in the diagram below: (please ignore the squizzled out lines). Attach to the Whisper White.
    12. Once you have attached all the DSP, place two-sided tape on the back of each end of the Whisper White:

1 13.A ttach the Whisper White to the inside of the So Saffron card base, ¼” in from all edges:

1 14. Now you can decorate the inside of the card. I used the Black Stazon and the Chalk Talk ‘Happy Big Day’, the Perfect Pennants ‘Make a Wish’, and the Starburst Sayings ‘Celebrate’. I cut them out with the Chalk Talk Framelits and the Starburst Framelits.

Note: Sometimes the card doesn’t fold completely, it usually catches on the two long black DSP folds:

Use your bone folder to enhance the scores, or simply put your thumb on the edge of the ‘Make a Wish’ outside edge and it will close easily.

I hope you enjoyed making this card!
I would love to see a photo of the ones you make!

Celebrate Today with bold Sweet Sorbet!

The card I have for you today is part accident, part inspiration. I saw a similar card inside while 'surfing', and thought I could figure it out. I did, but in the process started with So Saffron cardstock. No problem there until I picked up the Sweet Sorbet DSP from the Sale-a-bration brochure, cut it up, then realized the yellow was actually Summer Starfruit. Oh well, the So Saffron looks pretty good with it too! And I wasn't wasting the DSP or cardstock!

Here is the front:

I actually love the black and colourful design on the DSP (the little banner in the middle), but only in small doses. At least until I see someone's beautiful creation using it as the focal point.

The inside is very similar to the Tri-shutter card, but not quite.

There aren't as many panels as the Tri-shutter, and the cardstock base makes the inside a little surprise!

I didn't want to use too many designs of the DSP so I chose cardstock, and then embossed it with the Needlepoint Border Embossing Folder on the black...

and the Stylish Stripes Textured Embossing Folder from last year's Holiday Catalogue.

I hope you like it! And that you'll have time to stamp today!

Learn how to make tags of any length with just one punch. Most tag punches punch out the entire tag, so you're limited to one size. Now there's a tool that punches out just the top of a tag so you can choose how long you want your tag to be. It also punches out the hole for a tassel or thread so you don't have to do it separately. It's available in two top designs: scalloped and angled.

Thanks for watching today. Let me know if you have any questions about how to make a tag or topper any length you want! Makes creating bookmarks, tags, and bag toppers quick and easy…

Double Double Card

I must admit, I got a little carried away with this card, it kind of just kept growing! But I thought I'd show it to you anyway!

It is made using the Circle Card Thinlits, only I did a double cut, and that's when it all got carried away!

The problem was you could still see the sentiment I had stamped inside so I added another circle to the top circle...

But then it was unbalanced so I added another circle to the bottom circle...

And you couldn't see the inside anymore! Which looks like this by the way:

The DSP is a Sale-a-bration product - Sweet Sorbet. I love the soft, calm colours. The stamp set is Another Great Year from the Occasions catalogue.

I hope you like it! You never know what might happen when you try something new!
