Last Image, Last Three Cards

This set of cards is done with Riding Hood Red as the base colour:

I used a sheet from the Twitterpated DSP for the background on this card. The sentiment is from the Petite Pairs stamp set punched with the Scalloped Oval punch and mounted on one of the Apothecary Accents die cuts.

With the next one I used the Elegant Lines Embossing Folder for the background.

And finally I employed the waxed paper technique to create a background for the last card.

I hope you've enjoyed seeing the different types of cards you can make using the same image. You could mix and match the colours as well.

Next time I'll share something new and different... not sure what it is yet! :0)

Happy Stamping!

Three Cards using the second image from Summer Afternoon

Here is the second set of cards:

This blue set looks wonderful in real life! It's Pacific Point blue and I used the Wonder Crayons to watercolour the image.

This one uses the waxed paper stamping again.

I used the Framed Tulips Embossing Folder and the Perfectly Penned stamp set on this one:

Finally I used the Brights DSP Stack, and Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, tiny pearls, and the Little Friends stamp set.

Tomorrow is the final set of three using the bicycle image.

One Stamped Image - 3 Cards

Do you enjoy watercolouring? I sure do, so when I saw this Hostess Stamp Set - Summer Afternoon - I knew it was for me!

It has three different images, and I took each one and made 3 completely different cards. The first image is the wooden swing, just like the one my husband's parents have!

You saw the first card in the set yesterday in my technique share:

The second card uses Early Espresso ribbon and Lattice dry embossing as an accent:

And the third card (my favourite) uses a sheet from the Comfort Cafe DSP for a background and a doily from the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit.

Which one do you like best?

More samples from this stamp set tomorrow!

Quick & Easy Technique

I was working on a card set today and couldn't find a sheet of Designer Series Paper that worked with the colour I was using, so I used an old technique to create my own.

All I needed was a piece of crumpled up waxed paper! What could be easier?!

This is a great technique because you don't need any special equipment. Just daub the waxed paper on the ink pad, and stamp it on your paper. Re-ink each time to make the bold images...

And then fill in with stamped off images...

You can use more than one colour (different pieces of waxed paper for each colour) but for my purposes I only wanted one.

And here is the completed card:

Hope you like it!

Bordering on Romance Anniversary

This is an anniversary card I created for one of our daughters and her husband. They have been married 5 years today - time flies! Seems like yesterday everyone was celebrating in the backyard after the rehearsal - so much fun.

I chose the stamp set Bordering on Romance because I like its simplicity (and the name doesn't hurt!)

I also like the combination of Elegant Eggplant and Pool Party card stock(the colours are a little off here - Pool Party has more green in it). I wasn't planning to offset the Whisper White on the Elegant Eggplant, but it positioned itself and I kind of like it that way.

I used my Elegant Eggplant ink pad and Aqua Painter to watercolour the larger flowers, and the Pool Party and Lucky Limeade markers to colour the rest of the image.

The pearls give it a little extra class. In this photo you can see that the image has been cut out - that's what happens when you smear ink on the middle of the Whisper White by accident - you have to improvise! Actually I like the image showing 'outside the box'.

I hope you enjoyed your visit here. Remember the next "Carol's Card Kits to Go" will be posted on August 1st.

Kyle's 29th Birthday

Kyle is my youngest daughter's boyfriend, and he's an interesting, kind and fine man. So since we are visiting with them tomorrow, and it is his birthday, I wanted to take along a card ...and since I've just received an order with the Memorable Moments stamp set, plus a little something from the upcoming Holiday Mini, I thought I would use those!

The colours used are River Rock and Early Espresso, the DSP is from the Neutrals Stack, and the ink is Early Espresso. I used the Labels Collection framelit to cut out the sentiment - since it fits perfectly!

Kyle is a very understated business man so I hope he likes this card.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Serene Silhouettes in Pink & Black

I have always loved this colour combination (it does have pink in it afterall!!)

This set - Serene Silhouettes - makes it so easy to create a card. The images are very versatile and can be used for anything from Sympathy to Birthday to Anniversary to almost anything!

So here are the first two - the cardstock is Pretty in Pink, Basic Black, and Whisper White.

I also used the new 1/4" stitched grosgrain ribbon in Pretty in Pink and the Fancy Fan Embossing Folder.

The second two cards have a horizontal orientation.

I stamped the sentiments (from Thoughts & Prayers) before I run it through the embossing folder - I was worried it might make it hard to read but it looks great!

The matted shapes on the left card are from the Labels Collection Framelits, the circle is the 2 1/2" Circle Punch.

The matted shapes on the card on the right are made using the Blossom Punch and the circle was punched with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch.

I wanted something to store the cards in as they will be a gift, and this is one of my favourite choices - it uses only 1 sheet of 8 1/2" x 11" card stock for the base, and holds four cards and envelopes.

The ribbon used to hold it closed is the retired Satin ribbon.

Hope you have sunshine where you live!

Summer Day Happy Birthday

I have a member of the ASI Team who is having a birthday today, and I made this card for her. I wanted it to be summery and bright. Plus pretty and happy just like Sandi.

I used the Reason to Smile stamp set (see promotion on right) and the Papillon Potpourri for the butterflies. The 'Happy Birthday' is from a retired hostess set.

I used the new Butterfly punch and glued two of the butterflies together so you could see both sides.

The cardstock is Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, and Whisper White. I stamped everything with Black Stazon Ink and then coloured them in with markers (same as cardstock plus Tangerine Tango).

Plus I used one of the new Adorning Accents Edgelits.

I hope you, and Sandi, like it!
