Christmas Tree Angels

I remember making angels like this a few decades ago (I won't mention how many...), but they were never as pretty as these!

With the beautiful Designer Series Papers overlaid with the lace doily die cut, they are lovely. I searched our town for wooden balls to use as heads, but there were none to be found, so my angels have lovely painted round bells for heads, and their halos are made from Glimmer paper.

The blue angel has Vellum Card Stock as the base for her wings, while the red angel's wings are DSP.

This little treat box was inspired by one from Sandi MacIver's blog. It uses our kraft boxes, Cherry Cobbler Tulle, and Glimmer Paper stars.  The Gumball Green holly leaves are embossed with the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.

I still have more ornaments to prepare, so stop back soon!

What's on YOUR Wish List?

I know you're probably busy making sure you have all the right gifts for everyone on your list, tracking them down, picking them up, wrapping... Unless of course you get a thrill from shopping on the 24th - more power to you - I can't even imagine the stress that would put me through!! :0)

But how about you? Do you have any items on your Wish List from Stampin' Up!? If so I can help you with that... I have two ways to help with your wish list:

1. Give me a list of the things you'd like to receive and the names of people you would like to receive them from, and I WILL CONTACT THEM FOR YOU!! Yes! By phone or email, and just let them know that there are some things on your Wish List that you would really like, and that I'll even gift wrap it for them!! You don't have to do a thing after you email me with your list. Except open those wonderful gifts on Christmas!! Email me at carolmatthews.ns.sympatico.ca.

2. I will send you a Wish List that you can print out, and fill out, and give to your loved ones yourself. My information will be on the list and they can contact me at their convenience. And I will gift wrap their choices! Email me at carolmatthews.ns.sympatico.

The deadline for ordering is December 5th, so email me right away!

Pathfinder Projects

Hello!

I hope you're having as much fun today as I am! I'm getting ready for a Pathfinder meeting tonight. For those of you who are not familiar with the Girl Guides of Canada, Pathfinders are the 12-14 age group, after Guides, and before Rangers.

Now I was a Guide Leader and a Ranger Leader for a total of 11 years (in another lifetime!), so I'm really looking forward to spending some time with the Pathfinders.

Here are the projects I have chosen for them:

The Elf Shoes card is cased from Becky Roberts. I think it's adorable and I hope the girls like it too.
I used Real Red, Gumball Green, and Whisper White for cardstock, and Gumball Green for the ink.
The shoes are made with the Top Note die (cut in four). The pom poms on them are punched from our Real Red Glimmer paper - Gotta have some bling!

I've also included the Hot Chocolate packet, but used different embellishments this time. The bling is a little harder to find on this one, but it's there!

And because I find the girls work so much faster than I anticipate, I've included a simple tag to make if we finish up ahead of schedule.

I made sure to include stamping and punching, because that's what the girls seems to like to do the most! But I did all the cutting, embossing, and scoring to make things move along.

Thanks for visiting. Tomorrow is back to Christmas tree ornaments!

Decorating for Christmas!!

I'm so happy! The sun is shining and my husband is putting up the garland and Christmas lights outside. Have I told you before I LOVE Christmas!!

So here is a new Christmas decor item that I have created and want to share with you. It does use one retired item (can you pick it out?) but the rest is all available!

I looked everywhere - even in stores - but this was the best I could come up with from which to hang the tags.

And then just decorated the tags with a variety of images!

The letters are 'shadowed' with the same letter die cut in Soft Suede and attached slightly above and behind.
The poinsettia is stamped three times, with two cut out and layered on top.

Sure hope you like it, and maybe even make one of your own!!

I want to say a special Happy Thanksgiving to all of you who live south of our border of Canada. I am grateful for you and wanted to share this card that I made last year (but may I say - I love it!!).

Enjoy your long weekend - hope you have time to stamp!

Sincerely,

Projects from Hostess Club

We had our Hostess Club meeting last night and I want to share our projects with you. The first card was cased from Diane Vander Gilien and uses the Come to Bethlehem stamp set that is on sale right now!

I really like the way she used the Scallop Trim Corner Punch on two different pieces of the paper. And my ladies loved the bling of the rhinestones!

The card stock is Not Quite Navy and Whisper White. The sponging is done with Baja Breeze.

The second card (not my design) was also done in blue tones. This time the cardstock is Marina Mist and Bashful Blue. This card has lots of texture including two embossing folders - Square Lattice and Polka Dot, dimensionals, ribbon, a button, and lots of layers.
And although it's not on this card (this was my sample card) I had to add some bling for my ladies so the part of the snowflake in Bashful Blue became Silver Glimmer paper, and the blue button became a Vintage Faceted Designer Button!

Our last project was the Hot Chocolate pack I've shown you earlier. It goes together so quickly and is such a nice gift that I've done it with all my groups.

Ladies - thank you for a wonderful evening!

Oh Christmas Tree!

I am working on decorating my Stamping Studio's Christmas tree to be ready for the remainder of my Clubs and Classes leading up to Christmas.

I'm in Canada so we don't have the Thanksgiving weekend coming up to officially 'mark' the beginning of the season. Now I don't need any excuse to decorate for the holidays, but my darling husband does, so remember - this is just for business! (yeah, sure...).

It's not finished yet, but I want to show you some of the projects:

This is made using the Candy Wrapper die - so easy! And once you've made a couple of them the folding aspect of the ends is not a mystery anymore! The card stock is Real Red and I wrapped it with Candlelight Christmas Specialty Paper DSP and the gorgeous Champagne Glimmer Paper! The stamp on the oval is from the Christmas Blessings stamp set.

Remember these? Was it only 2 years ago that the "it shall remain unnamed" company started wrapping their chocolate mint patties in square wrap?!!! They no longer fit so neatly between our 1 3/4" Scallop Circle punch. Oh the nashing of teeth that we demos went through! (You'll never know the behind the scenes relationship demos have with the size and shape and wrap of candy - it all matters!!) :0) These little treats are so yummy and easy to decorate, they were sorely missed.

Anyway, this year I found a chocolate mint patty from a different company, wrapped in the traditional circle... Oh Joy! So my tree will be loaded with them, and if you have a chance to visit you can pick one off for yourself!

This lovely decoration was one of the projects in the U Stamp with Dawn & Friends latest round - Technique Boutique. It uses the Petal Cone die and lots of ribbons.   The 'Noel' is from the Greetings of the Season stamp set.

There are lots more decorations to show you, so be sure to drop back soon! And if you would like to make some of these decorations for yourself, you can order the supplies from my Stampin' Up! store, or contact me to attend some of my classes!

Double Photo Frame Tutorial

Hello Stampers!

I have another FREE tutorial for you today, and I think you're going to love it! It makes a great gift for family members, sweethearts, grandparents, travellers, and I'm sure you'll think of even more people who would love to have one.

DOUBLE PHOTO FRAME

INSTRUCTIONS

Cutting
1.      Cut two pieces of chipboard 5” x 5”
2.      Cut another two pieces of chipboard 5 ½” x 5 ½”
3.      Cut Designer Series paper for outside cover 6 ½” x 6 ½”
4.      Cut Designer Series paper for inside frames 5 ½” x 5 ½”
5.      Cut coordinating piece of cardstock 2” x 5 ½”

Assembling
1.      Place the 5 ½” x 5 ½” chipboard on top of the 6 ½” x 6 ½” DSP and mark corners, cutting off the points of the DSP.

2.      Place two sided tape all around the outside edge of the DSP. Remove paper from tape.
3.      Center the chipboard piece on the DSP and fold the DSP onto the chipboard.

4.      Place the 5” x 5” chipboard on the 5 ½” x 5 ½” DSP and trim corners.
5.      Place two sided tape all around the outside edge of the DSP. ALSO COMPLETELY COVER ONE SIDE OF THE CHIPBOARD WITH GLUE STICK OR LIQUID GLUE.

6.      Center the chipboard piece on the DSP and fold the DSP onto the chipboard to attach.
7.      Using the Big Shot and the 3 ½” circle die, cut a circle out of the center of the two 5” square chipboard pieces.

8.      Remove the blue plastic from one side of the window sheet. (Use your fingernail to scratch at the corner to get it started). Add two sided tape to all four sides. Center it over the circle cut in the 5” x 5” chipboard and attach, making sure it is straight.

9.      Take the piece of coordinating cardstock and fold it down the center lengthwise. Glue one side to the inside of the largest piece of chipboard, leaving the fold extended about ¼”. Place glue or tape on the other side of the cardstock and place the second piece of chipboard on top so that it lines up with the first piece. Keep the outside on top.

Place two sided tape around 3 sides of the 5” x 5”chipboard (leave the TOP side open so that you can insert the photos
Check the design on your DSP to make sure it is going the correct way. Peel the paper off of the two sided tape. Peel the blue plastic off of the window sheet. Attach to the inside of the larger piece of chipboard.

Decorate the front and insides of the frame if desired.
Insert 4” x 4” photos in the frames.
Stamp Sentiment on Whisper White cardstock. Attach to matted contrasting colour and add pearls or brads. Attach to front of photo case.

I hope you like this tutorial - and I would love it if you would leave a message!!

Happy Stamping
